Cardiology

Cardiology department includes the following units:

•• The Coronary care unit (CCU) :
• Well equipped unit with 8 monitored beds in separate sections. The unit contains an ECG, portable echocardiography machine and an Intraaortic balloon pump (IABP) for the critical cases. It supplied with a dialysis machine, 24 h pharmacy, Crush cart and a blood gases machine.
• The patients are supervised by two cardiology specialists with daily round by a cardiology consultant.
• The unit has a specific visiting hours for better performance.


•• Non invasive laboratory unit which includes :
• Echocardiography lab : a new well equipped lab for assessment of the cardiac performance and heart valves with a specialized echocardiographer in the 3D and 4D echo, stress echo, Transesophageal echo, tissue Doppler imaging and pediatric echo.
• Cardiac radiological imaging (Myocardial perfusion, CT, MRI).
• Electrophysiology non invasive lab :(24-48) hour’s Holter monitor - Tilt table test for assessment of the unexplained cases of the syncope .


•• Invasive laboratory unit which includes :
• Cardiac catheterization unit : a new catheterization laboratory with high resolution and limited radiation exposure, with a pre - catheterization room for patient preparation before the Procedure. The unit equipped to deal with acute cardiac settings like (MI) with coronary stenting with drug eluting stents or biodegradable stents.
• TAVI, percutaneous congenital heart disease management and device
closure of left atrial appendage (by Foreign ).
• We are using a non - ionic contrast to minimize risk on kidneys.
• By Foreign and hospital team we can do :
- Interatrial septal closure.
- LAA closure .

• The unit equipped with :
- FFR set for assessment of intracoronary pressure to assess the borderline lesions.
- IVUS for better assessment of the lesions and ensure good stent
deployment.
- Radio frequency of ablation set for ablation of the accessory pathways and ectopic foci .
- 3D CARTO machine which help in locating the ectopic foci and the accessory pathways with high accuracy and high success rate.
- Device therapy including cardiac pacemakers, implantable cardiac
defibrillator and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices (the new
MRI compatible devices).


•• The outpatient clinic :
• Open 5 days per week from (Saturday to Wednesday) with attending consultants.
- Electrophysiology clinic on (Saturdays and Wednesdays).
- Non invasive tests are available at the clinic times : (ECG, Echocardiography and stress ECG).
- Booking is required through the hot-line 16221.
• EPS clinic :
- Working (Saturdays and Wednesdays) by EPS consultants.
